Bras to Bed?

I first started wearing my moms bras and panties when I was about 10.  Of course, the only time I could wear them without getting into trouble was to bed at night.  I did this for about a year pretty regularly.  Then it became an on again off again thing for the next MANY years.  I believe it was the wearing of the bra at night at such a physically formative age that caused my left chest to grow slightly larger than my right one.  21 years later and you can only tell if I point it out to you, but the damage was done.

Here's my question and point.  I had heard YEARS ago that it was bad for young girls to wear bras to bed for fear of damaging or hurting the growth of the breast.  Is there any truth to this rumor in regards to young girls or expiramentaly young boys?  Can a 10 y/o damage the breast by wearing a bra to bed?

My next question is what about adults.  Is it bad (physically) for an adult male or female to wear a bra to bed?  Are we doing harm or good to our breast by wearing a bra to bed or does it really not matter medically?

While having no idea what the medical consiquences could be I could say that at the least it would be bad for circulation and have some health issues in that respect, to say nothing that for some, wearing one to bed and trying to sleep would be prohibitively uncomfortable.

on the other hand, it might cause the girls to stay perky longer. :D I've seen sleep/leisure bras in catalogs, but no one I know wears them. I don't. 8-10 hours a day is enough for me!

your body is organic, one breast is always going to be bigger than the other,  with my breasts its almost a whole cup size differance.... But we're uneven all over, your feet, eyebrows, hands legs, everything lol.... we aren't symetrycal ;)

so one of your breasts being bigger isn't due to wearing a  bra to bed.....  its good to let your breasts breathe a little, so I wouldn't reccomend it, also if its an underwire there could be issues  with the metal....  and I heard a study recently that letting your breasts er.. 'bounce' regularly can help prevent breast cancer lol....

I have a slightly too large padded bra I wear to sleep. I found it is more comfortalbe to wear it than to just wear a shirt. Something to do with the padding. ^_^

Personally after wearing one all day I can't wait to get the darn thing off...

How do you spell relief  :)

And I too have one breast larger than the other, so I guess it's normal to be odd :)

I suppose for a CD it might be fun to wear a bra to bed, for me I'm with Steph. I get home and its off with the darn thing. As far as damage if wearing it to bed could damage you, so could wearing one at all.

I think I'll dive into the conversation just here. Yes Cassie, it is fun to wear one to bed but practical no its not. A bra worn to bed is just as uncomfortable as you would expect and interupts your sleep particularly an underwire one. Ouch.

Doesn't that mean that I'll wake up during the night wanting to gofor a jog?

Hey, if it does then go for it as that sounds like a healthy proposition, but to me, shoulder straps and band, no matter how well fitted or adjusted, are points of pressure and irritation to the skin, and no matter how little this is, it gives me an impression of restraint and uncomfortableness which serves no purpose that would justify having to endure or bear it.

If it were not for social restrictions within mainstream society I would see no purpose in them for myself other to enhance the appearance of my bust, which I see as the only practicle application for them unless you actually have enough mass to require support to prevent neck and back problems and I am far from having such problems, not even requiring support when running or jogging.

Burn the things I say ....  Save em for those that physically require them.

Hi Terri,

I've come to understand that what you do is for yourself and not mearely to fit in or for the benefit of others opinions but I do have to say that your latest photo is lovely. There seems to be a very feminine line to your face in this one.

I also agree its the itching under the band and riding up of of a bra that makes them really uncomfortable to sleep in. The underwire is just an added discomfort.

Hah, Make me laugh Shelley, that has to be one of the most unflattering photos I have, taken at the worst of times, I just changed to it because it is real, down and dirty everyday life when you are coping with things out of control, not the carefully made up and posed stuff some would like to be seen as, rather what things really are at times in the life of a transitional person.  Anyway, I just like to throw a little reality out at times, kind of a hedge against fantasy and delusion.  I like reality, it's safer.

Thanks anyway Shelley, It's nice to get a compliment on a pic taken after walking in the door from a rain storm to sick to stand up straight after a day at work, even if I do find it amusing.  That pic was taken after my first day back at work after the brain hemmorage situation back in November.  I couldn't walk a straight line across a room and nobody could understand a word I said, but I was happy with myself for making it through a day and thats all that mattered to me.

Some would say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I also am one that looks beyond the first up appearance to the person below. Thats just how this photo struck me go figure.

As a kid I wore my bra to bed at night..and my breasts had no trouble at all growing !  :D   Now it's just too uncomfortable...I say, give the things some freedom now and again.  Not aware of health risks, but worth looking into.  Valerie
