Body dysphoria vs. social dysphoria, and advice for cis*gender people

I've never written on the topic of bodily dysphoria before, but as soon as I began thinking about it (while doing the dishes), it became clear to me that this has been a piece long time in the works.

And it's appropriate to write about it now, since I'm experiencing an episode of it–as opposed to complacently going through the motions of daily life, with dysphoria only allowed to be a backdrop. Or, at least, restraining dysphoria to the space at the back of my head, never allowing it space to roam.

Dysphoria is a common word in the trans community–and for good reason. Everybody, trans or cis*, has body image issues, and/or go through periods during which these issues claim the foreground of our lives, making daily routine almost unbearable.
