Has anyone done this?  I go to a stylist for my haircuts but I thought a shave from a barber could be a nice experience.  With the whole heated towel and such.  I do have some growth on my face as I haven't shaved in a month.  Unfortunately it's mostly clear but you can really feel it if you brush your hand over my check.

Should I go for it?  How common is it for cis-gendered men to have clear hairs on their face instead of hairs with actual colour?  Will the Barber find me odd or just accept me as I am?

I say go for it. The barber will just assume that you're a guy without much facial hair. That doesn't matter, getting a shave from the barber isn't really about getting clean shaven, its about the pampering imo. FYI sometimes they offer shoulder/neck massage along with the shave, maybe best avoided if your binder is noticable.

Thanks for replying Greg.  I know this little Barber shop that looks exactly how it would of 100 years ago.  Even down to the "barber's pole" with the red, white and blue stripes.  As usual my curious self can't resist such things.   Nothing wrong at all with being pampered from time to time.

I'm going tomorrow and I'll write here how it all went.

I haven't been, but would think that any decent barber would be much more interested in making you give him a good tip and want to come back than overthinking anything.  I hope you have a blast :)

I didn't know you could get a shave at one.  Cool.

I get my hair cut at a barber shop, and the one thing I discovered there is that they really just want to make you happy.

Unlike at a "salon" where the stylists think they know what would look good on you and be better for you, the barber just does what you like and a good barber prides himself on it. If you ask for something they think is stupid, they may ask if you're SURE, but if you are, you'll get what you asked for.

That said, I never did the shave thing, so I don't know if they get shave requests a lot. Maybe they will think you are a younger guy who is excited to do it for once.

My problem is that I'm not out to my barber, and I started going there before I was full timing. So he's been giving me really good men's cuts, thinking I'm a very tomboyish girl. At some people, I will have to tell him the truth, and I'm nervous, only because he really cuts hair well and I don't want to have to switch barbers to a new (stealthy) place if he is awkward about it!
