Transgender woman says DMV clerk warned of hell

(12-09) 18:34 PST SAN FRANCISCO -- A few days after Amber Yust visited the Department of Motor Vehicles in San Francisco to register her sex change from male to female, she got a letter at home from the DMV employee who had handled her application.

Homosexual acts, he informed her, were "an abomination that leads to hell."

The same day, Yust said, a DVD arrived from a fundamentalist church warning of eternal damnation for anyone "possessed by demons" of homosexuality. The DMV employee's letter had referred her to the church's website as a source of "critical information for your salvation."

I'm sure if anyone knows about hell it's an employee of the Cali DMV.  Going the DVM here is about as close to hell as most people ever get.  Dante would have added another ring had he known.

Well, there are now occupations in which creeps, pedophiles, voyeurs, etc can work "legally" and continue with their fetishes - DMV, TSA, etc. Praise the DMV creep's lord for that!

By the way, what does homosexuality mean when it comes to a trans person? As MtF, am I homosexual if I am attracted to men? Or am I homosexual if I am attracted to women? The definition of homosexuality takes into account the subject's sex or gender and the (potential) partner's sex or gender. So what is important criterion? Is it sex (and what criterion for sex determination - chromosomes, sex organs, reproductive organs, ...) or gender (ie. psychological)?

This is weird for me because my secondary sex characteristics visible to other people around me scream "female" socially since people rely on the secondary sex characteristics to determine a person's sex/gender without medical testing or document verification. And yet, I could be considered homosexual either way - if I am attracted to me or if I am attracted to women.

I am sure the DMV creep is not intellectually motivated enough to be precise about this or to improve his limited vocabulary. I believe his clan of fanatics labels all variations from the majority of sexual orientations and gender identities as homosexuality. However, the above paragraph I wrote seems to agree with their generalization of all variances from the majority as homosexuality.

I thought I read about this attack on an earlier posting. I believe that this employee is now a non-employee. Not sure, but I think so.

Love to read such letters.  I must admit that I love it because it reflects enough of his beliefs and emotions to psychoanalyze him ...

The content of the letter sounds more like he is trying to absolve himself of any sins he believes he must have committed by assisting the trans person in obtaining documents reflecting her gender transition. He feels like the state has forced him to commit a sin against his personal beliefs and against his personal wishes, but he had to commit the sin in order to keep his job. By sending it in writing with a request to not proceed with GRS, he is trying to reverse any sins he believes he must have committed via his acceptance of her new documents reflecting her desired name and desired gender marker. And it looks like he considered state privacy laws less significant to his own need to reverse his sins and hence used the address of the trans person in the DMV database to send her a personal letter.

No wonder religion has been used as an opium for the masses. It does change the perception of reality for some who get addicted to it.

Agreed. This type of person always seem to be more motivated by guilt than an actual concern for others. I know first hand because my family is like this. I could easily see my mom doing the exact same thing.
