The mother of a 13-year-old boy who committed suicide after being taunted and teased for being gay has taken to YouTube to plead for schools to stop antigay bullying.

The video, released last week by the American Civil Liberties Union, shows Wendy Walsh reading her son Seth's suicide note.

"Mom ... thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure," Walsh said, reading from the note. "I know this will bring you much pain, but I will hopefully be in a better place."

School districts should be held to a financial standard.  If there are are reports of bullying, they should have to pay $10,000 per incident.

Trust me if you hit them in the pocketbook they will do something.

It would be far more effective if you took that 10K from the parents.  Otherwise its just people who had nothing to do with it (taxpayers) who are going to foot the bill.

The Principal told the mother to "Remind me next year" when she went to talk to him about the problem? What kind of small mind rude crap is that?

Now the jackasss has something to remind him every day of every year... He is just as guilty as the bullies for his inaction and should be charged with some kind of contributory charge and made to make restitution to the mother and her family
