Sydneysider Akash Arora was shocked when he read The Macquarie Dictionary's definition of "transvestism".

"Transvestism", the dictionary stated, is "the abnormal desire to wear clothing typical of the opposite sex".

That, felt the 32-year-old sub-editor who had been looking for the difference between the meanings of "transsexual" and "transvestite", was not only incorrect but offensive.
