Cross-dressing cop and accused runner earn big promotions at NYPD ceremony

Michael Pilecki, a 27-year NYPD veteran, was promoted to full inspector in a ceremony at Police Headquarters. He was praised among dozens of others for dedication to duty.
The proud moment was a far cry from 2000, when he was the focus of an internal investigation after two cops spotted him wearing a wig and a dress while sitting in an unmarked police car. Befuddled, he showed the cops his NYPD badge near W. 14th St. in the Meatpacking District and they left him alone.
