My parents are sending me to a regular, non gender therapist that knows nothing of GID.  She already thinks my PCOS is causing me to want to be a guy....and now wants to lower my testosterone levels....eek..she is also telling me God doesn't make mistakes (in other words I should go back to being a girl). Yeah she is a nice lady and all but she is really ignorant on gender issues.

So tell them you don't want to go back to her anymore. She's the one they sent you to before right? I'd tell them you think because she has no experience dealing with GID that she is not going to be able to help you.

Catherine

It she is quoting GOD at you she isn't a therapist.. She is supposed to be providing you with low grade medical help..

You need to look else where for your therapy.

You need to look for someone more professional.

People who start quoting the big G are NOT to be trusted with your mind.

Most religions are based on the words written down many years ago by people who had no more idea of the world than the next village. The good books contradict themselves regularly (Its why zealots can twist the words to justify killing).

I dont deny there maybe a God but I do not believe the books that purport to be his word are actually what they say they are..

It makes me so angry when people invoke religion.

Refuse to see her.  She is a) not a real therapist if she is bring religion into it, and b) not train in gender related issues.  Do not allow them to give you anything that you do not know what it does.  Refuse any and all shots without for information.

GID is one of those issues that if you say you are, you are.  Tell this therapist to bugger off.

look through the phone book for therapists with gender experience but stay away from this one.

If God made you and God doesn't make mistakes then the person you are (trans and all) is perfect, just as God intended.  So why would any human try to change who you are?

Everyone I know who believes in the afterlife believes we leave behind out body when we enter the afterlife.  What we take with us is the core of who we are, our person, our personality, our essence; however you want to describe it.  Within that core is everything that makes us who we are and if you're trans, that's part of the package.  And if you believe in "God the Creator" then that core is what God created.

Toss that at your therapist and see what the reply is.
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

It's very, very hard to make independent decisions if you are not independent.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

You should tell her "So, god intentionally made you a crazy person?"

I am sorry to hear this and find it very unfortunate. You definitely need to be going to a different therapist. A therapist with no GID experience should not even be allowed to provide 'therapy' to you. Narrow minded and self-righteous, this therapist should have chosen a different career path.

A therapist should know you can't fix what's not broken.  I wouldn't go back.

Having fought against my GID for some 40+ years, I can tell you that any "cure" is rubbish and just delaying the inevitable need to be who you are.  Find yourself a real doc who can help.   :)

Above all, the role of a therapist is not to judge. A therapist is supposed to understand you, and to work with you as an ally towards setting priorities and reaching your goals.

You may wish to speak with your parents, explaining that this therapist has said she isn't really qualified to work with you and your specific needs, and seeing her is a waste of money. There are other therapists who CAN help you, and that's where you should be going.

Simple clear-cut answer. Find a new therapist. End.

If God doesn't make mistakes, how come you have PCOS?
Man, logic isn't her strong suit, is it?
When God gives you lemons a stupid therapist, make lemonade find a new therapist.

is this the same one that listed everything feminine about you, and how you couldn't transition because of that? how can she lower your testosterone levels? is she a medical doctor? tell her she's not qualified to tell you about PCOS, because it's got nothing to do with the reason you're going. also, she obviously lives by the bible. or why not just say a book that tells people how to live their lives instead of having minds of their own? just stop going to her ASAP. before she causes you any more psychological damage.

I noticed that there is an inverse relationship between logic and religious zealotry.

Any alleged 'prof' therapist that starts quoting 'god' speak as defacto drivel...

Should be struck-off immediately...

Dump them.... and get someone real....

i agree completely, therapists shouldn't use their personal beliefs and tie it with their clients.  newsflash, not everyone believes in god!

You should complain to whatever licensing board regulates your therapist. See if you can't get them reprimanded at the very least. Fact can't dissuade those who don't have beliefs based in fact; sad but true. Do what everyone else is saying and find someone else.

Kaden

Does her god hold the same view for intersexed children?

Didn't think I'd ever have to say this: For the sake of your mental health stop seeing your therapist!!
