The Get Equal activist talks about her experiences being arrested for chaining herself to the White House fence and all the merry adventures had this year in protesting DADT. She also extols on the virtues of social media in creating consensus and support for the movement against Don't Ask Don't Tell. You can watch her here:
What grabbed our attention is how she ends the interview: "Don't Ask Don't Tell does not change a thing for transgender veterans. " Okay. We're assuming she meant Don't Ask Don't Tell repeal does not change a thing for transgender veterans. And that's just it—it doesn't. So we were wondering why Sandeen is not talking about that in detail. Because as it stands transgender Americans haven't gained a thing insofar as equality or LGBT rights.
