Shoe lifts

Anyone use them?  What heights work without having to buy new shoes?   Any brands/types you like?  I'd love to add 1.5-2 inches but not sure if that's reasonable without my shoes fitting funny.  I'm sure I can't do more than an inch in my loafers but I'm wondering if I could go higher in my sneakers?

If you use lifts, prepare to feel like your walking in high heels, because you sort of are.  A half inch to an inch is enough to have that affect and about all you will get out of a tennis shoe.

Two words: Cowboy Boots.  They will give you a couple of inches.

Why would you want to, it changes the way you walk to make you seem fem/fake. It has the same disadvantages of wearing high heels except a wider heel.

Honestly, I get really tired of switching from womens shoes with heels to flat shoes.  I feel really, really short.  Even an inch makes a big difference   I'm doing it more to feel consistent than to look male, but I certainly don't mind that side effect.

I started buying inserts for my shoes to reduce the pain from standing at work. I never bothered to throw out the old ones, just place the new one on top.  With all the inserts I get an extra inch. I wear chukka boots. They can be dressed up, and are roomier. Being roomier you can pile the inserts in and still have enough space for your foot to be comfortable. Doesn't feel like I'm in heels. It's just squishy.

I don't personally wear lifts, but any type of high top skate shoe, would be ideal for lifts.

I'm used to walking in 5" platform boots so a couple of inches is nothing. I don't seem fem or have a feminine walk when walking in them either. High heels are another matter, you tend to walk differently when balancing on a tiny heel.

I don't know about shoe lifts but if you're looking for an extra 1- 2 inches look into buying a pair of boots. The bottoms of them are usually about 1 inch & sometimes mens boots have a slight heel that adds a little bit of height.

My mens motorcycle boots that just look like regular mens black boots add about an inch and a half to my height.

Also, if you are planning shoes with lifts or chunkier heels or whatever, you have to plan what pants or jeans you can wear with them. Pants hemmed or that fit appropriate for your 'regular' shoes are gonna look too short ad silly with lifts.

All good points.  Most of my shoes do add at least an inch, inch and a half which is putting me up around 5'6 but I'd really like another inch.  I ordered some cheapos off ebay just to see how the height works.  I'm thinking about doing the loveboat deal with the risers; they look nice.  And yeah, I thought about the pants: I usually wear mine long but I do have one pair of 30's that may have to get the axe.

That's actually exactly what I do xD. Instead of seeming like I'm 5'5", I look closer to 5'7". As a Mexican, that's a good height for me :'P. Still look really short compared to my freak of a younger brother who's 6'3" ;_;!

hmm I'm short [5'4/5'5] and I wouldn't ever consider wearing shoe lifts... I'd rather my height be consistent than take off my shoes one day for one reason or another and have everyone be like WOAH what just happened.

Then again I don't mind being short.

That being said I have no experience with the amount of height one can get out of lifts.  I would recommend wearing larger soled shoes though.  I'm a good half inch [at least] taller in my work boots than I am in my sneakers.
