Well, just because you may have some food around, a roof over your head, and a few bucks to live on now doesn't mean that it will be there tomorrow. Many people in this country are one paycheck away from being homeless, with the ever increasing food prices we have more and more people going hungry. So, don't always count on it being that way forever.

This may sound pessimistic but I see this situation getting worse and not better as time goes on. If jobs in certain sectors vanish completely and only low wage jobs replace them (or no jobs anywhere) you are going to see more people homeless and hungry. When you factor in this institutionalized disdain for poor people we have in this country and on top of that just basic selfishness and greed that humans love to fall victim to, it paints a pretty dark picture for what could be. Think about it, if you have brain dead consumerist drones punching each other out over friggin' TOYS and SNEAKERS (as seen on those oh so wonderful Black Fridays) what do you think is going to happen when it is food they are fighting for and not truly worthless garbage?

after the election it WILL GET WORSE it does every time.. except for certain people.

i did just read an article saying we in the USA will go into another recesion..

start saving and lower your expenses now to be prepared..

The problem with these and other "so called charities" is they want you to sign into a contract so they can get a chunk of your weekly pay check every month guaranteed and if they were a true charity all the "donated money" would go to the cause they are raising funds for and a reason why I will not support them,
I would rather give my time and a donation to a local charity that will allow me to give when I can without being locked into a contract and I can see where a 100% of my money is going...
Charity starts at home not in another country.....

and thats your choice and mine. I like a group that manages to help so many with so few actual business people and helps people i could never help. I also help at home too but this thread is about the people around the world who are dying every day. Yes some are here in the USA but nothing compared to africa etc etc

Yes, that's true. I think it's more complex than easy. In a simple terms, like you said, "Hate" is one main reason. Beth Andrea - "We have people who study history; to better to learn how to kill those we don't like..." - What kind of teacher do you have??? I have collections of guns, but  I go shooting as a hobby & competition shooting, not to kill or hurt anybody. And I don't shoot or kill animals. I also reload ammunitions.

I wasn't talking about "Joe/Jane Average"...I was talking about political and military leaders, and those who are trying to be the next generation of leaders. *They* study history to learn how to kill others better, and they study history to see how not to destroy their country.

Obviously we never stop learning, but I wouldn't mind learning everything.  Like I said before, we should all love each other and get along or else we are just going to tear ourselves apart. Some people say without wars & military, we wouldn't have the advance technology that was created by the military. I don't think you really need military to have or get advance technology, because there is a lot of technology created from & by civilians. I heard that the military technology is ahead by 100 years compared to civilian technology.

Wars create a survival motive as well as an incredible profit motive. (Scroll down a tiny bit to get to the book)

And no, we should NOT "love each other and get along"...the only way that could happen is if everyone has exactly the same morals and ideals, the same finances, the same opportunities, the same mates and children.  There's only one place where there is true equality--in a grave.

I love inequality. I hate the self-righteousness of some people who say, "You have more than they do, so you should give up your (money, food, women, guns, etc) in order that "we" can give the "have-nots" what they cannot, will not, get for themselves."

If you want to give your money/etc to others (for whatever reason), that's great. But do not think, even for one second, that I will let you take my stuff just to salve your own conscience.

I'm guessing your in "Real Social Problems 101" class, unless you were just being sarcastic. What are you majoring in? Good luck on your test!  I hope you do well! LOL! My class I took was just called "Social Problems". With "Constitutional Law", "Physical Anthropology", & "Photography I". Those were my last spring semester classes. I focused more on my other classes, besides my "Social Problems" class. I got  "A's" on all three classes, except "Social Problems", which I got a "B". Finally graduated with my "Criminal Justice" degree 2 weeks ago. YAY!

Sarcasm. I've never majored in that.  Seriously, I've taken a handful of "social problems"-type classes, and all of them were left-wing/neo-communist indoctrinations.

Let me refresh you on some important facts: WWI not started by USA, WWII not started by the USA, Korea not started by the USA, Vietnam not started by the USA, Gulf War I not started by the USA, Afghanistan not started by the USA, Gulf war II started by the USA, Humm...1 out of 8, not to bad of a record, and we can debate the Gulf war II was but the unfinished Gulf war II
