This is the doc they fly in to Iceland do to SRS for folk, both FTM and MTF, on the government's dime.
I'm going to meet with the psychologist while I'm in Reykjavík on an entirely unrelated errand next week, and one of the things we have to talk about is "Bottom Surgery", what with having been on T for a year now and thus being "qualified" to get it.

Problem is...

I'm not convinced I want to do that, what with limited results and all.
I'm not convinced I want to do that "yet", what with the suggestion that bottom growth's not "enterly" done 'till after 3-5 years. (Yes, I know bottom surgery won't "impede" growth, it's more of a "one thing at a time" thought.)

But more than anything...

I can't find any pictures of his results with Meta.
I can't even find any written record of his results with Meta from someone who's been to him.

I can find photos/records of blokes who've gone to him for keyhole, and had to go again, and again, and again, for revisions.
And I've found two guys that have gone to him for phallo, which I know I don't want.

So...

Does anyone know of him?
Does anyone know anyone who does/may know of him?

Anything else?
Halp?

Flan

from his research papers, he sounds like a good surgeon, but from *current* work, I'm more inclined to say only ok.

Thanks Flan.
:/ Seems all the images I've found suggest that while he may have the theory down and some GREAT ideas for "down the line" his personal skill at the moment leaves something to be desired.
'Course, he might just need practice, which I'd provide, and so down the line he could do a great job with another guy.. but.. I don't wanna be practice, I wanna be the "great job".

Here's a video of an FtM who had a consult (for DI, hysto, meta) with Dr. Kratz:

There's footage of the actual consult.  It's not super detailed, but it gives some idea of what is done.  I agree, photos are a big deal when deciding on a surgeon.  Whenever he is in Iceland again, why not see if you can get a consult?  Perhaps he has more photos of metas that you can look at.  Of course, meta results are hugely dependent on one's own growth.  As for the immediately post-op meta photo that Flan posted, I think it looks rather good.  The guy had good growth to begin with, but the penis looks fully freed-up from surrounding tissue and it's joined nicely to the scrotum.  The incision lines and sutures look neat and clean, not at all like a "hack job".  The scrotum looks bifid (two sac), but that is not unusual.  I know that Dr. Miroslav Djordjevic out of Belgrade, Serbia usually creates a two sac scrotum initially (apparently it is better for implant survival) and can later fuse the scrotum into one sac.

A big question I would want to ask would be his experience with urethral lengthening.  I found this: http://www.computerconsultingservices.net/trans-medicine/images/3.htm  Scroll all the way to the bottom; apparently he is working with tissue engineering for urethral lengthening.

Here's his CV: http://www.plastikakademin.se/mop-kratz.pdf  Some of the research sounds very promising, but as Flan said--great in theory, but how is he in practice?

Another thought: since he is primarily practicing in Sweden and "medical tourism" (such as when people travel to Thailand or Serbia for SRS) to use a surgeon based out of Sweden's national healthcare system is unlikely, perhaps that is why the usual English-language photo repositories (TransBucket and Yahoo Groups) don't have photos of his work.  There was a thread in the FtM Metoidioplasty Yahoo group expressing interest in his innovative tissue engineering techniques, but it sounded like nobody there was from Sweden and hence didn't have access to using Dr. Kratz as a surgeon.  Perhaps there are Swedish-language trans sites that may be more helpful?

Even if you don't feel a need for bottom surgery now (or at its current technological level), it must be nice to know that, should you want it in the future, it will be covered.  I just paid out-of-pocket for metoidioplasty with Dr. Miro.  Worth it, but a lot of money.  For what it's worth, I think the photo Flan posted looks very much like Miro's immediately post-op results, but I guess the comparison only has meaning if you like the aesthetics of Miro's meta results in the first place.
