The Queer Film Classics series is an ambitious project by Arsenal Pulp Press from Vancouver, BC, to critically explore 21 films that have been important in LGBT film history. The series of monographs began in 2009, and will continue at a rate of three titles issued per year until 2015. The three queer film-study books released late last year recently found their way to our desk. They are Farewell My Concubine, by Helen Hok-Sze Leung, about the Cannes Palme d'Or-winning Chinese film by Chen Kaige; Fire, by Shohini Ghosh, on the Indian-Canadian lesbian film by Deepa Mehta; and Montreal Main, by Thomas Waugh and Jason Garrison, about the Canadian cult film from 1974.
