Hi Nicole.
Well, I haven't had my top done but I think I could answer this.
I always picture the day I am completely healed after the surgery and I picture myself outside, running with my dog, without a shirt. Once I get the surgery, I'm gonna be so proud of my new chest

I mean, when people drive by, they will see a man running with his dog. Never, would they think I was a female, because I'm running shirtless and have other masculine features.
So yeah, I would feel free without a shirt and it would def. help me feel as if I'm living the right way.
Hope I answered your question
