There is always the translation method.

Personally my favourite was She's not There (was so bummed when Boylen visted my alma mater and I wasn't there to meet her!) and my second is She's not the Man I Married. As for documentaries I loved No Dumb Questions.

Oh yes, She's Not There and the followup I'm Looking Through You are both AMAZING although I did like the first better. She's not the Man I Married I was just kind of "eh" about.

Quick aside, there is a line in She's Not There that devastated me. Just before Jennifer goes in for SRS surgery, in reference to her wife she says, "I will never regret being female, but I will probably always regret not being Grace's husband." I read that in bed very shortly after I came out to my wife and before she decided to divorce me (which frankly makes the whole thing more poignant for me). I had a fall-apart on the spot and couldn't sleep. I got up and decided to email Jennifer about my reaction and express how grateful I was to her for having written the book. By 9AM the next morning she had written me back the sweetest note that I will always treasure. I cannot say enough good things about Jennifer Boylan and I hope to meet her one day.
and i know that i'm never alone
and i know that my heart is my home
Every missing piece of me
I can find in a melody
