Northern Christian groups under fire in gay equality row

The National Secular Society hit out at their opposition to sexual orientation regulations which will stop any guest houses or hotels from banning same sex couples from their bedrooms.

The organisation has complained to the Advertising Standards Association about a publicity campaign which accuses the Government of forbidding freedom of conscience and religion by dictating what is acceptable and then forcing its views on the public.

Secretary of State Peter Hain's plans to implement the Equality Act in Northern Ireland on January 1 - ahead of the rest of the UK - has provoked an outcry in some religious quarters.
