I'm confused about the whole T process...

I'm still trapped at home with my unaccepting parents who won't let me see a therapist that is qualified in gender issues.

Well as an idea maybe you should talk to her about hormones. When she tells you she knows nothing about them then ask her how she is qualified to be your therapist.

You could then demand that she does some research in to the subject.

I'm seeing a GP at a local university who does informed consent. I just made an appointment and told them it was for hormone replacement therapy. The Dr asked me some questions, did a quick physical and did blood work. Now I'm just waiting to go back for my first shot.

I did 3 months of therapy though anyway.

I didn't have a GP type doctor or a main doctor before going on T (didn't have money to afford appointments). I went to a clinic that has a "section" specifically for transgender care (they do everything). Between the appointments listed I would say it took a total of 2 months but there were complications on the part of the clinic and my behalf. They were in between providers (doctors) and were without one for the transgender patients for awhile. Plus, I was broke and couldn't afford the transportation to get over there sometimes.

Ya, i dont have health insurance, thats why i dont know where to start. That doesnt seem bad at all though, im going to see if i can find somewhere that does informed consent.

Also have you tried looking on T-Vox?  They might have a list of doctors and therapists in your area and you could just call them and ask their requirements, pricing, etc.   Also you might try ftm.livejournal.com
