I wore my binder for 8 hours today during school, and i heard that the max is 8-12 hours, but i have things to do tonight, so do you think if i leave it off for a couple hours it will be okay to wear it for a couple hours tonight?  i really don't want to go without it.

I know it says there is a maxium binder time ... but I wear mine as long as I need it too...I so feel bad when I don't have it on....I have been known to wear mine for 20 hours before ... I know some men who sleep in them...

Last summer for two months, I bound basically 24/7, or at least sixteen to eighteen hours of every day. I turned out okay... I know it's probably not really relevant, because at the time I didn't have that much to bind.

You'll be fine. Just take it off before you sleep (although I break that rule often and I'm fine...I don't recommend it though).

I don't know where the eight-hour rule came from, but it seems arbitrary.  I've been binding about 16-18 hours a day for the last four years, and I'm just fine.  If you can get away with binding fewer hours, that's probably ideal, but I wouldn't worry too much about wearing it a little longer than recommended.  And obviously, if it starts to be really painful or you start to have trouble breathing or anything, you should take it off.  But that's only ever happened to me three times over the last four years, and all of those time I had been wearing it for WAY longer than I should have, so you probably don't need to worry about it.

Well, like everyone said, i'm fine.  I made it the two hours i needed, though after only three days of having a binder, i feel very awkward when i'm out of it.  More uncomfortable than awkward even.  says something i think.

yeah for me, as much as i can remember, the first day/two days were really painful in the binder, but only really under my underarms where the binder sat it was horrible, but i kept it on anyways. but yeah at first i think i took it off for sleeping, but that didnt last long. i mean my chest dysphoria is almost even worse when i sleep since i can feel 'them' against the bed when i lie down. i feel more uncomfortable with it off than i do with it on, so thats my reasoning for why i wear mine so much

Like others have said, I wear my binder for however long I need to. I've worn it for three days in a row once, including sleeping in it, because I had friends over for a couple of days and was sharing a bed. That being said after a few days my chest was sore, and I really wouldn't recommend it.

But I wear mine a lot longer than eight hours a day, and it doesn't ever do any damage so long as I take it off for a few hours here and there. So just used some common sense with it and you'll be fine.
