Have you ever gotten the "You're still young" or "You're too young" line?

Constantly. When it came time to start T I got asked "your young, don't you think you'll grow out of this phase?" I quickly explained I'm old enough to enlist. I think that means I'm old enough to decide to start T. Have you?

That's one of the standards. As Andrew demonstrates, the beauty of it is it can be applied selectively to almost anything.

And, if you argue with it, it proves you're immature.

I used to use that line on myself.  "I'm too young.  I'm too immature.  I'm still growing.  I'll get out of this phase.  I'm just being a dumb teenager."  Then years went by and nothing changed.  It was only after I accepted the fact that I was trans, I became happier and could function socially better.

Certainly did! From age 14 until I came of legal age. By then people began to realize how serious I was!

yep, quite a few times, people used the brain doesn't mature til your 24-25, youre not mature enough yet, people make regretable mistakes that haunt them for their entire lives in their 20's..

it seems to me that my family thinks people shouldn't transition til you hit 30 :P.

my family thinks i should wait until the old people are dead because it's cruel to put them through such agony, plus yes, i am "too young." oh, and if the old people leave kids behind? nope, not then, kids shouldn't be subjected to such confusion, they deserve nice sheltered lives. so either i live super old and outlive my younger cousins or kill them all off.

or leave em all behind and say  good bye.

Yeah I have, thats why I pretend to be a lesbian. I repressed a lot of memories of being a little Tboy. I can remember someone (my mom or grandma) yelling at me and then said someting along the lines of why can't you be a good girl and I slammed my door yelling I am not a ->-bleeped-<-ing girl.
