Hello, All.
I combed through the brief history here and didn't see anything so I thought I would correct that and make people aware of a few of the resources available in Phoenix to trans people.
TransMentors International (
www.transmentors.org) is based out of Phoenix. Recently, they have taken over meetings that Michael Brown and I started several years ago called Genderific. These are held now weekly and in various parts of the valley. They also have several other meetings and socials that happen in a safe space.
Transgender Harmony (TGH) is the oldest extant support group in the Valley. They have meetings every other week.
I am the Executive Director of This Is H.O.W., a non profit trans crisis center. (
www.thisishow.org). Over the last four years, TIH has helped over 300 trans people to make their lives better. We provide AA meetings, several different sorts of support group meetings, and more.
There are also online resources: Central Arizona Gender Alliance (CAGA) has a website and a yahoo group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CentralAGA/Arizona TransAlliance is a political group, and also runs a yahoo group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AZTransAlliance/The yahoo groups are great for keeping aware of the various meetings and events that are going on the Valley.
There is also MSpectrum, which is the men's group locally (the others are mixed, though TGH tends to favor the women) which has twice monthly meetings.
There is always something going on in the Phoenix Area, and you don't have to feel alone or left out.
