CHENNAI: The burning issues that surround the life of a transgender were poignantly portrayed by lawyer turned director IPS Exavier's feature film, Karuvarai Pookal.

The story line was dealt with warmth and great sensitivity, as the narrative revolves around the life of a teenager, Gopi.

Life takes a twist for Gopi, the third child born into a  typical middle class family, when he discovers his alternative sexual orientation. Gopi then leaves home, to join the transgender community and take on his new avatar, as Gopika.
