Joelene9

Hello,
I am Joelene, a M-F transgender. I am in my late 50's and had GID problems for over a half century now! I was raised in an era which TG's was placed in the same group as Homos (this term was before Stonewall and the term "gay"). Even the playground admonitions back then suggested that awful things will happen to people like me. I didn't even hear about Christine Jorgenson until the mid-60's when she showed up at a local TV talk show that was in prime time.  This is my first exposure to the TG experience and that I was not alone!
I been to therapy on and off since the late 70's for the GID. The therapists back then either wanted to exorcise this or told me to go at it alone.
I've been on HRT for the past 3 months for GID and for an uh-oh with the prostate.
I chose this site for the TOS over those others, I'm prudish and I don't like "dirty" sites.
I am a Christian M-F and I believe that the Bible says God does allow for us and we TG's as a majority are not gay. I feel closer to God now.
I have not crossdressed since I snuck on some of my mother's stuff when I was a child and was caught. I may do so as this progresses and I show some more feminine features. I do not know how far I will go with this. It depends on my attitude and the condition of the prostate, PSA test in April.
I have never dated because of the GID and the relationship problems it would cause with the women, yet, I am still romantically attracted to them.
The 3 month experience with HRT has been all positive. No mood swings as of yet, no self critizism from the slightest boo-boos since month one. The visible prostate problems was erased since week two! The GID anxiety has disappeared. I come out to people more and I feel that I am becoming less introverted.
I came out with my siblings this past Xmas with the HRT treatment for GID and the prostate. By younger brother admitted that he  is taking T for his prostate. They're stunned at this time but still are talking to me in a positive tone.
I hope to gleam more knowledge and support from this group. It has been a long trek.
  Thank You,
  Joelene.

Welcome to Susan's, Jolene!

I am glad to hear that you have come to a place where you accept yourself, many people tend to struggle with that issue the most. I am so glad that you chose to join Susan's, I am sure that you will find many ladies your age here, this site is very active.

Here at Susan's people are exceptionally supportive and kind, don't be afraid to post. As Janet said it doesn't matter if you had a bad day and need to vent, are setting a new goal for yourself that you would like some support to reach, or if you are having the best day of your life, feel free to share it and don't be too shocked at the overwhelming response you are likely to get!

I look forward to reading more posts from you, it's great to meet you, Jolene!

Hugs,
Jacquelyn

Hi Joelene!

Welcome to the forums. You will meet a lot of very nice people here, as I have.
It is amazing what HRT can do to your self esteem, don't you agree? I had pretty much the same experiences that you had. When I started my HRT regimen, I became a different person. I started feeling like the person I always should have been but has been denied because of therapists/parents etc. not understanding way back then. Luckily for us things have changed. (Mostly for the better) I am also looking forward to reading more of your posts here on the best site in the world.

Hi Joelene,

I've read each of your posts thus far, and am impressed with the amount of research and preparation you've done. You will be a valuable asset here.

I am Jewish, but we seem to have some other things in common. I first found Christine Jorgenson when I was about 13. She was the subject of a biography, and I stood in the drugstore newsstand and read about her, cover to cover.

And I first discovered Susan's because of the prostate. I had always dreamed someone would turn me into a woman, and the finasteride, prescribed for my prostate, seemed to be doing just that. I was excited, euphoric, and scared--and came here to learn more, discovering, in turn, a welcoming community.

I have been working and getting my exercise in the warehouse for UPS for almost 10 years. Our heaviest packages are 150 pounds, but I do know how to push, roll, and maneuver them on and off trucks and belts.

Best wishes for your journey, and I look forward to meeting you along the way. I can often be found in the Androgyne forest, a forum here you might enjoy checking out.

Thank you all! You all have made my day!  :icon_biggrin:
I woke up this morning and found my fence on one side of the house had blown down overnight. Been busy today setting in new posts for the fence. I had no problem with the 80 lb sacks of concrete and putting the posts in. This went smoother than when the whole section in the backyard went down 3 years ago. I no longer have 3 things at once going through my mind since the HRT. Looks like a 1 1/2 day job. That last one took 2 weeks. I may finish that tomorrow. After all that, thank you again!
