How long after stopping T?

Hey y'all, it's been a while...

So I'm a bit over 2 years on T now, and I'm in the midst of switiching HRT doctors. I made an appointment with a new one, but his next appointment is at the end of May, and I just took my last dose (which wasn't even a full dose).

I am desperately looking for some doctor - any doctor that will take me within the the next two weeks, but that's not even what this thread is about, I'm consulting my local trans brothers and sisters about finding a doc.

Right now I am flipping out because I am usually on a particular dose every two weeks and this dose I just had was somewhere in between that dose and two thirds of a dose and I am terrified that the red death will start up again. Does anybody have any experience with how long you have to be off T before it starts?

I'm sure you guys can sympathize that this CANNOT happen. I will do whatever is necessary to prevent it... If it does it will surely send me right over the deep end. I will not be able to handle it...

It's difficult to say, since everyone's body reacts differently. It may never start up again or it could happen in a few weeks. Is it at all possible for you to get a last refill from your prior doctor, especially if you explain that you won't be able to see the new doctor until the end of May? Sudden cessation of long term HRT is never a good idea, so hopefully you can talk to someone about this; if not the prior doctor, then perhaps the new one. Maybe if there is a LBGT clinic in your area? I wish you luck on this.

Psst, remove your dose.

I agree with YMMV. A friend of mine has been of for maybe 3 months, possibly longer (X Center denied him) and he hasn't had it return.

I strongly suggest that you either call in a refill on your old scrip (if you are lucky, your doc will approve a refill) or call your old doctor and ask for a refill. Be persistent if you must.

Ditto on what the other guys have said; every body is different. You might not experience the red-headed cousin, or it might pop in for a visit pretty quickly.

I would say after two years on T you should be safe for two months at least...though as has been said...everyone is different...my advice is to just get some more quickly if you can...it is not that difficult really
