Does anyone else have trouble making friends their age?
I feel like most of my friends are way younger, maybe its because I pass as their age.

Most of my friends are either way younger or way older than me. That's because I meet them at my youth group where most of them are 5 years younger than me or at my trans group where many of them are at least 5 years older than me so really I'm not around people my age to make friends with them.

Yeah I find it hard to make friends sometimes. But that's mostly because I'm not that confident at times. It is especially hard on the days I feel dysphoric because then I don't want to talk to anybody.

Most of the friends I have are the ones I met in high school. Making friends in college has been a bit harder for me though.

Most of the time I tend to make friends with folks older than me...I have all my life.  I think the burden of knowing I am trans made me mature quicker ... IDK...just know that I tend to have friends older.  My wife is six years older than me & my best friend at work is 12 years older so...

I had a 16 year old kid ask me in my martial arts class if I was in high school.  No dude.  I'm 31 years old with a mortgage and three kids to raise.  One of them being only 6 years younger than you.

Yet everyone seems to think that.  I'm called, kid, boy and son.  Yes they are male adjectives and at first that was good enough.  At this point however I am starting to get annoyed with it.

People normally assume I want to be with people in their late teens or early twenties.  I enjoy all types of people, young adults included.  However I have a bit of a more mature world weary outlook I think and sometimes I want more than they can give.  On average of course.  Quite often there is a younger person who surprises me with their maturity and insight.  Overall though what they like to talk about seems juvenile.  Yet that's where everyone herds me towards and it's getting to the point I just want to burst out with the truth.

I'm good with people of just about any age, my facebook* has people in their 80s on it, and people in their early 20s.  It's about the mind, life and outlook more than the age.

* - FB is strictly limited - iron clad rule - to people I know IRL.

this isnt trans related, but when i was younger little, and I mean LITTLE girls would always want to play with me in the pool, like these girls were 8-10, it was awkward.

but to answer your question, I dont really make younger friends because I am not subjected to younger people, being in college, most of my friends are my age, but I dont have that many friends anyway

Most of my friends are pretty much around my age range ;D My youngest friend would probably be 13 and my oldest is around 19. But most of these friends I made at school. I met the younger ones over the internet and our friendships just grew until we were able to meet in real life! 8)

I tend to have older friends rather than friends my age. I do have a couple friends though that are in my age group, ranging from 14-16, but most of closer friends are 18-25. I haven't really made any internet friends because I'm more of a lurker on forums, just because I prefer to read rather than write on them, and on online chat-room type things I usually only go to where my friends are.

When I've managed to make friends, they've usually been older than me because I see them as more intellectually equal to me, and they're often more mature. The friend I've known the longest is 21, I'm still under 18. Then I'm still friends with my ex, who's a year younger. I'm sort-of casually in touch with two people who are both 15. But since those are my only friends, I don't actually care how old whoever I befriend is.

I need to stop reading threads like this, it always makes me feel like crap to see friends referred to in plural terms.

I guess it's a lot easier for me to make friends my own age since I'm in university - my friends all come from class. My girlfriend has five years on me, though, and she has friends up to twelve years older than me. I get the feeling they don't take me as seriously because I look so young.

I get along better with people that are around 10 years older than me. I'm 19, and kids at 18-21 are generally irresponsible and just not good for intelligent conversation. Not all of them of course, my best friends are 19 and 20, but they're the only two people in that age group that I've met that I get along with for long enough periods of time to call them friends. All my other friends are 25 to 45 years old. I'm just too grumpy for youngsters, I guess!

As it turns out there are just as many boring boneheaded 28 and 29 year olds, you just don't meet them as much as they are still living in mom's basement or working at McDonald's, or they are in jail.

My college has a wide variety of people in terms of age.
One class was moslty 1st and 2nd year students, which 90% of them were 18-20. Another class was the opposite, 18 yr olds to maybe 60. I, myself am in the 18-25 group and im not into that whole college party scene. Neither are the few friends that I have. I usually feel weird being the oldest of the group, but looking the youngest(im always someones little brother) :/

Haha, that made me laugh. Thank goodness we don't meet them, haha

I make friends my own age perfectly well.  Granted, I'm 19 and most people my age have yet to develop true maturity (maturity is important to me), I actually find it difficult to make friends with people who aren't my age. The farther apart in age I get with people, the harder it is for me to find things in common with them.
The only instances I am able to make good friends with a significant age difference is online. But this is a different situation because I meet these people on message boards, so we happened to meet because we share a common interest.

Uhm for some reason, all my friends are older than me, and I couldnt tell you why?

mr_marc

I've got a few friends who're older and younger than me but it doesn't really bother me that much,  plus as i go to college its sort of a wider age range.

the spread of my friends ages is pretty even across a small range.

I have friends from about age 20-25 and I'm right in the middle.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
