had to cut new binder off :(

I just received my two new Underworks 998 binders. Of course eagerly I opened them to try them on. I thought it was a little small, but since I've never bound before, I thought this was normal since I measured myself so I could pick the right size. I tried pulling it up, and it wouldn't go over my hips (which means it wouldn't go over my stomach since it's bigger than my hips). I tried pulling it down like a shirt, and got it so it was bunched under my armpits. Since my fat sacks are far too big, it wouldn't go over them. I tried and tried, but it didn't work. So I thought I could simply exchange them for a different size. I tried getting it off, and no workie. I struggled for like half an hour straight, trying to get it on or off, one of the two, but it didn't work. I don't have anyone here who can help me, so I started to panic because it felt like the circulation to my arms was being cut off. I got as far as getting one of my arms out, but that's as far as I got. Finally, before completely going nuts, I whipped out my paramedic scissors and cut it off. I feel mad now that I didn't try harder to get it off, since I basically just cost myself $40. This is depressing not only because of that, but because I have to wait even longer to bind.

that sucks man maybe opt for a short binder, one with velcro or a zipper, next time? i used to have a pullover binder that was about as impossible to get on and off and i thought it needed to be that way for it to bind right, but actually it just shouldn't be that way.

Im sorry dude, that does suck. The first time I got my binder on, I was scared that it wouldnt come off and I wondered if anyone ever had to cut theres off due to it getting stuck. Luckily, my sister helped me the first few times, and now its a lot easier to get on/off. Good luck getting ur new one.

did you cut it on the sides? down the middle?

if you cut an even straight line you can take some strong fabric, cut it into a rectangular shape as long as the binder is, then sew each side onto the binder, tah dah, fixed binder and it should fit

I cut and sew my binders all the time.

I will include a crappy little drawing to explain it cause i cant explain in words.

I cut down the middle. It's a relatively straight line.
I see what you mean. Your suggestion would be a good one to try since I can't get it exchanged anyway. What is considered a strong fabric?

go to a craftstore and look around, feel the fabrics and give the studier ones a tug, if they dont give much then its a good fabric.  cotton for example, stretches.. so maybe a mix of cotton and something stronger, i dont really remember fabric names.

If you can find a heavier/thicker nylon or lycra fabric that'd probably work great. Even thick elastic might do it. Just don't look for something that's too stretchy. Just make sure you sew it by machine and go over it 3-4 times.

That's ->-bleeped-<-ty as hell, though. I was so worried that was gonna happen to me earlier today when I tried mine on. Do you have a friend or anyone that could help you with it because honestly, I wouldn't have been able to get mine on if not for my best friend.

When I first got my tri-top, there was no way I could take it off by myself. It stressed me out too.


What helped - other than having another person to help, because we don't always have that - was wearing something under the tri top that had less friction than skin (like an underarmour undershirt or the equivalent). Everything was much easier when I didn't try to put the tri-top directly on me.

Within a short time (weeks), I was able to wear the tri-top without the undershirt thing OR needing anyone else's help.

So those are my two recommendations for the future for you or anyone else: other person and/or undershirt that is is more slippery against the binder fabric.

you could just use a strong, maybe double layered ace-bandage for fabric. les love boat sell a binder that's made from bandage material and it's really good. while you're at it, you might wanna sew in a zipper
