(NewsCore) - Chris Lee, the married New York congressman who resigned after allegedly seeking dates with women on Craigslist, also sought the company of transgender women, Gawker reported Friday.

Following Lee's resignation on Feb. 9, two Washington, D.C.-area transgender women contacted the media gossip website separately, alleging that they had exchanged emails with the two-term congressman.

WASHINGTON — The website that revealed the e-mail flirtation that ended Rep. Chris Lee's political career published more allegations Friday about the former lawmaker from Amherst, saying he corresponded with a transsexual and a transvestite prostitute he encountered on Craigslist.

Gawker, the gossip blog that published a now-infamous shirtless photo of Lee that led to his downfall, said it initially received separate e-mails from two transgender individuals who offered descriptions of their e-mail contact with the lawmaker. In subsequent e-mails over 10 days between Gawker and the two, Gawker said it obtained more details about the e-mails they exchanged with Lee.

The Craigslist Congressman and the Crossdressing Prostitute

http://gawker.com/#!5769037/the-craigslist-congressman-and-the-crossdressing-prostitute

Remy Stern — The Craigslist Congressman and the Crossdressing ProstituteChris Lee's resignation from the House on Feb. 9 may be the quickest political downfall in history: It came just three hours after Gawker published a photo of Lee standing in the mirror shirtless, along with a story about how the married congressman dabbled in a little online dating on Craigslist.

Lee's sudden exit took many people by surprise. Hadn't other members of Congress admitted to worse than an unconsummated, PG-13 flirtation and managed to stay in office? It turns out Lee may have had good reason to step out of the spotlight so quickly: It wasn't just women that the Craigslist Congressman was hunting for on the Internet.

Before Scandal Broke, Former GOP Rep. Lee Reportedly Cruised Transwomen Online
by Kilian Melloy
Monday Feb 28, 2011

http://www.edgeboston.com/index.php?ch=news&sc=&sc2=news&sc3=&id=116748

Mere weeks after breaking the story that Republican Congressman Chris Lee had sent a sexy snapshot of himself to a woman he met online, Gawker followed up with revelations that Lee--who hastily stepped down when the scandal broke--seemingly had more going on: The former New York representative had also evidently chatted with at least two transsexual women online, and sent one of them a similar steamy image made with a smart phone camera.

[...]

The image contradicted Lee's public image of wholesome "family values" politician, an image buffed by the congressman's anti-gay voting record. Suddenly, a public persona was overwritten by a candid snap of a middle-aged man flexing his muscles in a mirror, red Blackberry clutched in one hand.

The news outlets are sure having fun with this one.  What I am annoyed with though is the association of "Anti-Gay" to "Trans Lust" as being a bigger deal than the overall issue of whether the man is trustworthy due to his  disregard for his marriage vows.  Whether two of his intended paramours were trans women or cis women, its no different to what he wanted to do. break a trust.   Women are women, and he's a lecher, simple.
