Overtly fem in drab mode?

Has anyone tried saying the hell with it and worn anything unmistakably fem that no one could miss when you weren't even trying to pass as female? If so what sort of reactions did you experience?

Without a wig(1" natural hair :-() and plenty of makeup to deal with beard shadow my normal appearance isn't even ambiguous. I already wear female items as a norm that you can't see or appear gender neutral. However sometimes I'm tempted to just say screw it, I'll look however I want to look and everyone can just think I'm a freak or whatever. On the one hand I hate the idea of turning my life into constantly dealing with people who don't like my presentation. On the other hand staying in the closet so to speak unless in full female mode and disassociated from boy mode is very frustrating.

Can I test the waters through the experience of others before jumping in myself?

Before HRT and all, back in the days of short hair, I pushed my luck more with grooming than clothing.

Meaning nicely arched eyebrows, female glasses, foundation, a touch of coloured gloss, woman's watch, jewelry on occasion (bracelets, pendants, rings, etc.). Plus I stripped all the hair (what there was) off my arms.

No one ever said a thing, though I'll admit it's not the same as showing up in a skirt ;)

For clothing, I did my best to find feminine-looking male clothing.. soft fabrics, nice colours, and so on.

Even now, five months into HRT, I'm in the super-fun "what IS it?" phase where some people see me as female, and most (I guess?) as male. I wear women's clothing entirely now, though it's fairly toned down. I guess people who see me as male just view it as male clothing, and vice versa. I haven't noticed any bizarre looks, though again, we're talking women's jeans or khakis, and nice sweaters and knit tops... not skirts and heels, so... maybe not a fair test.

After hormones kicked in I started wearing clothes cut for women because they fit a bit better than the stuff in the men's department.  Then I added a nice pair of shoes that were beyond a doubt women's shoes.  From time to time I would put on concealer and even a bit of foundation here and there.

Add in the long hair and earrings and no one should have been surprised.  but they were.  LOL

i have a few feminine and gender neutral tops/t-shirts and scarves for trench coats..
Too careful for this since i am not transitioning and pose outwardly male...
