First and foremost! I started Therapy!! *clap*
This gal is really cool with LGBT people, but does not specialize in Gender therapy. She wants to help me transtion, as she wants the experience as well. Currently, my therapist is connecting an old friend whom is a gender therapist to learn more about how to help me. What I need to know, to help her is what should go into the letter for HRT. Is it a recommendation letter, or a official letter stating her professional opinion to allow me to start HRT. Thank you so much ladies for helping me get to this HUGE milestone!!!
Lot's of love

It is my understanding that legally there is not requirement. Most MD do ask for a letter for liability purposes, and probably also as a concurrence when hey do not know the patient well.

In my case I told my GP about my GID on day one (about 6 years ago). We discussed the issue, and based on my financial and family situations we come up with a long term plan. Later on, when I ask him for E, he said "no problem." I guess he knows that this is not a new development whimsically undertaken. but part of a long term plan.

All the best,

Kate

Tyler,

I believe that the Harry Benjamin standards of care explains what the letter should state. But I could be wrong. She can find some information on the WPATH website. http://www.wpath.org/publications_ijt.cfm

Hope that helps.
