I say my endo today Dr Teresa Sievers in Estero she is so awesome and totally understood what I have gone through in my life, anyway I took all my labs with me and she started me on my hormones, I think I thanked her like a million times I got out to the car and cried like a baby I couldnt believe that I was finally on my way.  It was weird the publix pharmacist did not want to  fill my script for E even after I explained why I needed it when I asked for his boss he backed down and said he did not believe in what we folks do, I was so mad but did not want a scene,  After that Had to stop at Target for a cute little knit dress.
Just wanted to share this milestone with everyone.

Me too sister!   Congratulations!

I was lucky as there is a pharmacist 10 feet away from the clinic that deals with a lot of trans patients.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I remember the excitement that ran through me when I started HRT... It was like Christmas, my b-day and a few other holidays all rapped in one

Congrats  ;D

Wow! I would have made a big stink. I would have still spoken to his boss.
I'd tell the little twerp that if he wants to sit in judgement of whether other people's medication are necessary
that he should first become a licensed MD and then he should shut his mouth up about other doctor's patients.
This scenario might be covered under the company's internal sexual harassment rules.
In any case, it is completely unprofessional.
I'd mention it to your endo also, that's contesting her authority.

I'd also just take my prescription over to Target.

Congratulations on the start!

You could have this idiot fired in a heartbeat, but I'm sure you don't want that. I definitely would do what Renate said and let your Endo know, and probably just go to Target.
I too was fearful of this happening, even though I knew damn well they couldn't by law not fill them.

That's not true in all states.  Pharmacists aren't just pills counters and often have the right to decide not to give drugs to someone just like any doctor has the right not to treat everyone.  Unfortunately it's usually for contraceptives or plan B stuff.  I wouldn't want to face the embarrassment of not having a prescription filled, especially with some snide comment..but I guess I respect the right of that profession to have a conscious and make choices.   It's not government or politics.

A thing to remember about pharmacies:

In a pharmacy there will be at least one (but usually only one) pharmacist.
There may be a number of pharmacy techs who fill prescriptions checked by the pharmacist.
There may be a number of ordinary mortals (sometimes in white coats) who hand out prescription bags.

Which of these three classes of people served you is always a mystery.

First congrats.

Secondly, you were right not to make a scene there but you should report this to CORPORATE Publix. Tell them how humiliated you were and that this is gender discrimination i.e. Would this guy have said this to a female patient? And state they need to make some sort of policy on how to treat TG customers. Think about how you might be able to stop this from happening to another TG who goes there in the future. I've done this at several places I have been treated rudely and it DID make a difference.

I wouldn't give this place any further business either.

I definitely would have thrown a fit if someone said that to me. That is SOOO not right to do at all.
