Not sure where to put this, so, moderators, feel free to put it in the right place if this isn't it.

CNN has a video story linked to their home page.  Unfortunately the link reads "Transgendered vet describes 'pain'".  Apparently the pain of discrimination and hate is either considered controversial or fake by CNN.  I thought the video itself was fairly innocuous, other than the use of "transgenders" to refer to people.

It amazes me when major news organizations won't bother to be respectful of people, particularly news organization headquartered in a region that continues to deal with the results of racial prejudice.  You would think that would teach people the need for respect, but clearly it doesn't.

unfortunately there are alot of things that should happen that never seem too.

it's like people only live in the here and now and forget the lessons that life has taught them in the past.

Ex. a friend of mine has been allowed this girl to live with him for while and all she does is complains. never helps around the house, eats all his food and won't look for work. When he kicks her out she cries she has no place to go so he lets her back in and the next morning she's right back in the same routine.

Any wonder why we haven't been visited by "intelligent" aliens yet? I know I would stay away from this short bus of a planet.
Scott Kelley: You guys are here on a good day.
Zak Bagans: What's that suppost to mean?
Scott Kelley: The building will talk to you today."

I like a quote from JoAnn Loulan in "Lesbian Passion".  Although it refers to racism among lesbians in the US, it is applicable to prejudice everywhere.

"White people tend to forget about racism. In fact they forget about it as often as possible."
"Don't ask me, it was on fire when I lay down on it"

There is racism out there, I spent 30 years of my life with non white partners (I'm white) and one sees it frequently although not in the 'in your face' manner. Little things like being followed around stores by security and so on. Madeira is where we encountered the worst racism, probably the perpetrators were veterans of Portugal's colonial wars with a massive grudge against black people. In the year I spent as the only white person in a town in Africa never had a hard time apart from kids hassling for stuff and calling me toubab (whitey), innocent stuff, my black girlfriend got a much harder time for having dreadlocks and for being female.

Racism is horrible, just today at a demonstration I met a lesbian Bengali friend who heard a so called socialist LGBTQI group use the P word and then say it was ok for them to use it. No it's not, not ever.
