I know, I know.  Head shaving can be a big no no for FTMs.  I don't plan on keeping it shaved, though.  Right now I have hair to about my shoulders and I've wanted to get a nice short haircut for a long, long time but have been too afraid.  I also can't come out at work and I'm going to hold this job for another year.  But I found a way where I can shave my head with workplace support and I figure I can try several male styles I've always wanted to try while it's growing back in.

So yeah, I'm really curious to see what my head looks like since I've never seen it.  This should be fun (I won't be doing it 'til around the end of next month, though).

I shaved my head, and within a month it was just kind of buzzed looking. I do not look so good completely bald, but I pass the best right after the buzz starts to grow out. It was one of my favorite haircuts I wore. I say go for it. You can always wear a hat if it doesn't look right!

I think most FTMs pass much better with a shaved head. I think it would suit you, from your picture you def have the face for it.

I would shave my head all the time but my forehead is too big hahah :(

I say go for it too! When I first got it cut i went to a hairdresser and it was way to feminine and just not what i wanted at all. After about three weeks i went to a barber and got it shorter. Then everytime ive gone, ive gotten it shorter and shorter. Now im down to a 1 on the sides and 4 on top. It might be like a shocker at first to you, but like you said as it grows back you can try styles you like. This is a good oppertunity. Congrats and good luck :)

Shaving bald or buzz? Either way good luck!

I've always wanted to buzz my hair every since I can remember. I feel like it would make things easier when it comes to trying out different hairstyles. I was too afraid to though  :-\

I totally think you could rock it though. I say go for it. It's just hair and it'll grow back anyways.

I'm gonna shave it bald-- 0 all over.  I convinced my work to let me do it to raise money for childhood cancer research.  So I get to raise money, teach the kids about the cause and let them donate to it, show support for one of our kids who lost her hair in chemo, AND I get the short hair I've always wanted.  It's a win win win win.

Dude, that's an awesome cause to support, so go for it. I think it would look pretty darn decent on ya. Good luck!

This was posted a little while ago but I was reading this and was wondering why is shaving your head a big no no or FTMs? I actually started shaving my head about a year and a half ago and keep it shaved every since.

I am not on T, or had any surgeries...

I actually have a big head lol but Ive been told that I look good with a shaved head by many people. In fact people at my work, every time my hair starts growing back, they tell me I need to shave because i'm lookin torn up lol.

But yeah dude go for it. Theres nothing like finally being able to take those clippers to your head for the first time.

Good luck man!

Well the female head shape is usually very different from a male one, and shaving it can accentuate that.  I'm not sure if it'll happen to me since I've never seen what my head looks like.  I guess I'll find out.

I've always wanted to shave my head too.  but I'm worried how it would look.   I guess if I ever do it and I hate it, I will just wear a hat.

Completely shaved tends to look not so awesome and can feminize a face. I knew this one guy who with a fairly short cut passed flawlessly, no doubt about what gender he was. When he shaved his head to I think a #1 or 2 all over it hurt him.

For me, I started off by cutting my hair to ear length in a choppy male cut (which didn't work out so great because of my frizzy curly hair). Then I shaved it with a #8 all around. A #8 is about one inch of hair. It was still not so awesome but I liked it.

Yeah, I think I'd really like the convenience of having my hair that short.  sometimes I wonder if I just got to decide of the convenience is worth it and then just tell myself to not care if I don't pass good enough or not.  Although since I don't try that hard anyway, perhaps it's not as big an issue for me as it is for others.

Really eh?? Hmmm, I have yet to see an FTM to doesn't pass with shaved/buzzed head. All the ones I know look better that way.

I've seen it many times. I know that with myself I look far worse with a completely buzzed short short cut.

I look worse that way because I have a small head. That's one reason I'm taking Finasteride. The hair adds a wee bit of volume to my noggin.

this works for people unless they have weird dents in their skull for some reason like i do. I've been completely bald down to scalp a couple times (it's a long and stupid, unnecessary story) some said it looked good on me but i noticed the weird dents i was only able to feel before and I was kinda pale and thin that i looked like i was dying, it really looked bad in photos..yikes. i got the "do you have cancer?" A LOT even though i had normal energy, not weak and had super thick eyebrows ::) bugged the hell out of me and i never want to see my scalp again which brings about the fear of male pattern baldness in the future but i don't think you have the problems i had then so you should go for it :)

Hahah that's funny.

The only reason I don't like my head shaved is because my hair is thinning and is way more noticeable when it's buzzed, also I have a large forehead.

The Leukaemia Foundation  has shave a head or moustache whatever day. Good way to  raise some money for a worthy cause. , no embarrassment and let the look live. Win for everyone.

Why is head shaving a no-no? I've been rocking a buzz cut for many, many years before it even occurred to me that I could be a guy.
