On March 24, 2011, I was fortunate to attend the third annual installment of "Girl Talk, A Trans & Cis Woman Dialogue" presented by the Queer Cultural Center at the San Francisco LGBT Center. This event (which is, as far as I know, unique in the world) discusses and presents creativity around the issue of trans women being within queer women's spaces. It featured a series of spoken pieces by cis and trans women curated by Gina De Vries, Julia Serano and Elena Rose (who regularly blogs as "Little Light"). As the curators explained at the beginning of the event, they had little problem lining up queer ID'd trans women spoken word performers. The hard part was finding non-trans queer women who had real experience (as in a relationship/intimacy) with trans women and who haven't already performed in the prior two versions of Girl Talk.

As it was, Gina De Vries performed yet again this year since they were unable to find more than 3 cis-performers who fit the bill.
