Hello, all. I've perused this site for a long time and popped into the chat every once in a while, but it's taken me until now to join the forums. I hope to share my experience and learn from others while I make myself more vocal and connected to the TG Community.

A little about me: I'm 21 years old, biologically male, and only now beginning the process of transition into the girl I've always felt I was. Like a lot of people out there, I'm doing this on my own and it doesn't promise to be easy. But then again, none of the good things in life are. Oh, and by the way, the name's Kimber (not "Kimberly"), but you can call me Kim  :)

Hi Kim

Very welcome honey.
Yes, you are right, it's not an easy way but it's worth the struggle after all.
You are wrong with doing this alone, now we know you and you can count on support.
You've friends worldwide now, compassionate and supporting people and because of the time difference there will be always someone on the board.
Feel free to write about your hope's, fears or anything what's on your mind.
There are a lot of people with expirience here so, feel free to take advantage of their knowledge.
In the mean time make yourself at home.

Hugs
Annette

Hi Kim and welcome to the forums. You will find a great deal of info in the older posts so don't wait to dive into these.
When you say you are doing it 'on your own' does it mean that you do not have a therapist yet? This is probably the most important step toward self realization in regards to GID.
Keep in mind that this is your life and YOU make the decisions. It's a long road and it can get rough if not done in the right way.

Hi Kimber, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 5900 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out these links ( MUST READS )

Hugs and Love,
Janet

...just thought that I would clarify. By alone, I mean that no one around me quite understands the things I'm going through. But, all things considered, I'm doing pretty well. And I don't intend to do anything drastic without the caring guidance of a proper therapist, but I still only have a few allies here.

Of course, I thank goodness that I do have the support of people like y'all here on these forums. Really, I don't know what I'd do without such a blessing.

Welcome, Kimber!
You found the right place here at Susan's.  I was 26-27 when I went to my first therapist in the late '70s.  Not much came out of that, my therapists knew nothing of ->-bleeped-<-.  I had to wait until I was 58 to start HRT because of that.  You got more therapists that will assist your now than I had.  Be patient, your just a kid!   You've got plenty of time.
