Imagine the NFL actively and openly supporting trans people.  What kind of impact would that have?

Well, a wrestling coach at a Division I college is trying to help make that happen.  And I believe he may have a chance.  Wrestlers are the modern day gladiators and society has always had a love affair with gladiators.

Fighting Homophobia in Sports - A Champion Coach Takes a Stand

Three-time All American wrestler and current Columbia University wrestling coach Hudson Taylor has decided to fight homophobia in sports through Athlete Allies - an advocacy and education organization.  Here's why.

In a single month in 2010, nine LGBT teens, who lived in disparate communities from New Jersey to California, ended their lives. Common to all was the experience of being bullied in school.

As an athlete and coach, I am confident that the athletic community can help prevent similar tragedies. I believe in our potential as athlete allies to define 21st century sportsmanship by actions and words that reject homophobia and value respect and diversity.

I think this is wonderful! What a stand up guy. He's a straight, former collegiate wrestling champion and current college coach. He personifies someone making a difference! He comes from a devote Christian family, but never reveals his own beliefs outside of "love you neighbor".

His fiance' is lucky for have found a guy who's secure enough in himself to know that LGBT people pose no threat to him,his marriage or reputation.

Julie and Hudson are right- what impact would it have on society if the Yankees, Cubs, Patriots or Cowboys came out against bullying and in favor of inclusion?
