The resolution was presented at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva today.
It calls on states to 'take steps to end acts of violence, criminal sanctions and related human rights violations committed against individuals because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.'*I've written them a stroppy comment on this news item, which Pink News chose to headline "85 countries sign UN
gay rights resolution", sigh, despite the resolution calling for an end to "...human rights violations committed against individuals because of their sexual orientation
or gender identity." A lot of the commenters were going blah blah LGBT but I pointed out a complete absence of T in the news story itself and in the comments.
