EVER SINCE I WAS A CHILD, I'VE ALWAYS HAD A FEAR OF SOMEONE UNDER MY BED AT NIGHT. SO I WENT TO A SHRINK AND TOLD HIM:

'I've got problems. Every time I go to bed I think there's somebody under it.  I'm scared.  I think I'm going crazy.'

'Just put yourself in my hands for one year,' said the shrink. 'Come talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get rid of those fears..'

'How much do you charge?'

'Eighty dollars per visit,' replied the doctor.

'I'll sleep on it,' I said.

Six months later the doctor met me on the street. 'Why didn't you come to see me about those fears you were having?' he asked.

'Well, Eighty bucks a visit three times a week for a year is an awful lot of money! A bartender cured me for $10. I was so happy to have saved all that money that I went and bought me a new pickup!'

'Is that so!' With a bit of an attitude he said, 'and how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?'

'He told me to cut the legs off the bed! - Ain't nobody under there now!!!'

FORGET THE SHRINKS..

HAVE A DRINK & TALK TO A BARTENDER!

May your troubles be less, Your blessings be more,

And nothing but happiness come through your door!

Reminds me of something I read in a science magazine. Probably apochryphal.

During the most intense part of the Space Race NASA spent a lot of time and money developing a pen that would write reliably in zero G.  An astronaut was  talking to their Russian counterpart years later about the research that went into it.

The Russian answered,"we found the same problem and solved it easily for next to nothing."
The Nasa man was excited, "what did you do?"

The Russian answered, "We used a pencil."

"Don't ask me, it was on fire when I lay down on it"

Which is why they use pencils for general construction, they work best on wood. as well as why they're used during scuba diving, they work under water. Behold, the marvelous pencil!
But pens work best on news print, which is why I got one of those space pens in the mid 90's since I'm a crossword enthusaist but I lost it not even three months later, must have floated off somewhere. I just keep a box of bic's handy now and when one stops writing from being at odd angles in bed, I merely pick up another!

Spending a couple millions dollars on developing a pen that the astronauts can use on the daily paper must have been far less than the subscription they had for daily delivery of the palm beach post!
