Intersex Babies: Boy or Girl and Who Decides?
Surgery on Ambiguous Genitals Is Irreversible and Doctors Can Get a Child's Sex Wrong

Jim Bruce was born with XY male chromosomes but ambiguous genitals. Doctors couldn't be sure if he had a large clitoris or a small penis and were convinced he could never live a "satisfactory life" as a man.

So shortly after his birth in 1976, Bruce's external organ and testes were surgically removed and he was raised as a girl.

Fate

when i was born my penis looked liked a clit
and the tests were so small they stayed inside my body for a while

english doctors are not as brave as the american ones they tend not to do anything unless they are sure
they just left me for a while since pokeing around that area didnt seem to make it drop
it did eventally, but goes in easyly again if they put me on my back again

would have been so pleased if they did the srs back then  ;D

off topic notes:
doctors view was it can be done later if they was wrong
parents strongly wanted a boy, so it rather hard to say anything to them
i 1st complained to them at age 5, they just thought i was confused
had to wait to 20 when i went to uni to do it on my own

would have been nice to strat at the age, feel as if i missed out on things

I remember hearing something like this on NPR when I was around seven, it was something that clicked in my mind and got me thinking "Did something like this happen to me?
