So, I've decided to change my vBlog into something I would do more frequently, and that's doing movie reviews!

My first inaugural review is of the movie "The Mechanic"

Because it's the first, it may not be terribly polished, but it'll get there eventually. :P

Sorry, i know this topic is 30 days old, but i wouldn't mind you re-uploading your review. The trailer seems okay, and Jason Statham is in it, so i'm debating whether or not i'll rent it when it comes.

I had to go to the other places to review the newest version of the 1972 classic.  It seems to follow the same line as the Charles Bronson - Jan Michael Vincent version I saw in 1972 while out to sea with the Navy.  I haven't seen the new one yet.  I had the impression then that the writer of this got the inspiration from a dime novel I saw at the drugstore as a kid.  I remembered it may had have 'Mechanic' in the title and the front had a picture of a pegboard layout of tools common then with the tools in its place with a silouette of each painted on the board.  But the one with the Thompson outline had that tool missing.

Hmm ... sure I can ... let me find it and I'll re-upload :P

It wasn't ... uhm ... all that great of a movie :P gimme a few.

Aww, I'm sorry.  My movie reviews were lost in a hard disk crash back in February or so.

Basically the gist of the review is that this actor seems to have a nack for finding these cheesy movies.   I wasn't sure if the guy was trying to be serious or if he knew he was in a silly movie.

The plot was thin and highly predictable and the character development and interactions didn't make sense at all.   They introduced one of the main characters with a passing comment that lasted all of 2 seconds, for Pete's sake.   They never ever revisited that character and who he was.

I think I gave it a very weak rating of like 1.5 - 2 stars ... It's great if you love cheese and want to see explosions.   Not so great if you want anything greater than that. :)

Hey, thanks for getting back ;D.
I'll probably skip it then. I'd rather have a story over action any day.
Is your rating system out of 5? Just curious.

Yeah ...

It wasn't a super awesome movie ... When I saw it, I was in the mood to see things explode, but it didn't even have a whole ton of that.

I'd suggest something else with a bit more story involved if you want action.

I am Number Four was actually a decent flick.  I'd give that one a 3.5 - 4 stars.   It had a great plot and adequate action as well as a couple hottie leads in it.   Can't go wrong with that.

I liked the original better, less 'action' and all that, but a far darker film.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I'm really eager for, I Am Number Four, to come out on DVD already D:

I tend to dislike remakes too.  I haven't seen to many that I thought improved on the original.

I actually like campy movies, but only when the people making the movie know it's a campy movie and play into it.

My favorite is in Death Race 2000 when David Caradine shows off his Hand Grenade ... That was sort of the pinnacle of the movie for me. :)
