tattoo chest piece

As for top surgery, it looks like its happening by the end of summer/early fall.. and i want a chest piece.
the chest piece i want is of a owl, (I haven't drawn it up yet..but i have the vision in my head )
how soon after top surgery can i get my chest piece? I'm aware that healing takes along time. i'm just so excited to get this done, i can't wait.

Also, for those of you who has had top surgery, and got a chest piece, what did you get? Just curious

Ooh, now you've got me thinking. I'll have to really think on that one. Tribal tatts look badass, but in the modern day, not being part of a tribe, I wouldn't get one.

I don't really know anything about this but if you've heard of Meiko Elias Xavier on youtube, he has a chest piece. Maybe you could ask him about his.

ya, i was wondering this too. i have a chest piece and im pre op so i was wondering how thats gunna work out also. i dont reall like it, so i plan to get more done post op to kind of cover it.

it says "let love in" across the top. im not sure what im getting to cover it up. maybe a picture or something. like brent mentioned, i like meiko's chest pice, i might want to do something like his.

I'd wait a good  year before getting ink on top of scars....

i didn't want my scars tattoo'd i just want ink in the middle of the chest, and outwards. I have a picture of the tattoo i want, just waiting for comfirmation to use it as a tattoo (Someones drawing on deviantart)

If you aren't going to be touching the scars or nipples (and I'm assuming you're getting DI here, as it is most common) you wouldn't really have to wait all that long.

I would make sure you are completely healed and feeling better though.  Getting a tattoo is traumatic for the body and you want to be feeling as healthy as possible when gong in for one.  Although tattoos heal fairly quickly (around 2 weeks) it would be pretty difficult to deal with a large unhealed tattoo in addition to a healing chest after surgery.

Ask your surgeon and ask your tattoo artist.  They would both have knowledge and preferences on this subject.  Listen to them and listen to your body.
