An awkward but fun moment

Some back story:

About six months ago, the boss of one of my best friends (let's call her Stella, just for fun) sent me a friend request on Facebook.  Now I'd never met Stella, but when I saw her work affiliation and that she was friends with my friend, I went ahead and added her.  A few days after that, my friend revealed that Stella friended me because she thought I was cute.  We've never sent each other messages or wall posts, but I don't really care about that sort of thing and so we remained connected on Facebook.

Two weeks ago, I came out on Facebook, put up a new profile pic, and changed my name.  Stella never commented.

Fast forward to today.

I popped in unannounced to my friend's store five minutes before they closed, as I was in the neighborhood running an errand in the adjacent mall.  Stella was there... the first time I'd ever seen her in person.  She asked if I needed any help and I said I was waiting for my friend, but I didn't introduce myself because I wanted to see if she recognized me.  My friend finished with his last customer about 15 minutes after the store closed, so only my friend, Stella, one other employee, and I remained in the store.  My friend went into the backroom and Stella chased him.  I remained on the floor.

When we got to the car, my friend said that when Stella got to the backroom, she told him, "She's SOOOOO cute!  You should date her!"  To this my friend replied that it would really be quite difficult (not only does he have a girlfriend, but we've known each other since our second year of high school, nearly 20 years ago).

My friend also informed Stella that she had friended me on Facebook (obviously under my old name and gender).  She had no clue and said she didn't recognize me at all. ;D  So my friend told her to look me up again.  Stella's a Facebook fiend so is no doubt going to follow the suggestion.

My friend promised to update me on Stella's reaction when he sees her on Monday. ;D  This should be good...

Sounds great Zoe.  Would love to hear the update.
We were all born this way.  Don't let world stupidness to bring you down to its level.  Rise above and love yourself.   ;)

Oh, I'll be sure to update...  ;)  I just can't wait to find out what she says when she realizes that girl in the store yesterday was the "cute" boy she friended six months back!

One thing I didn't mention in my original post is that, as my friend and I were leaving the store, Stella invited us both out to a goth night that happens at a local club every Saturday.  She told us "anything you do would be perfectly normal to them, you'd blend right in!"  (I actually frequent goth nights, as another of my good friends is a goth DJ).  And Stella didn't even know I was trans when she said it...   I was trying so hard not to bust out laughing right there on the spot.  My friend said Stella will probably go bright red when she realizes what she said and who I was, but that she's totally open-minded and won't freak out.

My response, by the way, was that I was always normal... no matter where I go, I'm almost guaranteed to be the only normal person there.  All because I was born in a town called Normal. ;D  (And that's a fact)

And so the answer: Stella said it was unfair that I got to be both "a hot guy and a hot girl" (a direct quote, not flattering myself  ).  She also said that, in either case, she'd do things to me that I probably shouldn't repeat on this forum.

For the record, my friend's girlfriend has real issues with his boss, and comments like that are the reason why.  :P

So concludes a very, very strange day.

I like to hear a good "coming out" on facebook. I've considered facebook to be a dangerous place, easily exploited, and even started another account to switch when I do come out.

Hehe you've got to love the interweb. Thank goodness for Facebook

Cute story!!

Ordinarily I'd be envious, but it sounds like Stella may be somewhat of (as the boys say) a "horndog".  :D

Now that was a great story!

You should have seen mine. It was amazing! I even linked it up here, I think I got all but 8 of my friends to switch over. I just deleted the other account. Let me find it...

In all honesty, she does have a... er... reputation.  I wasn't exactly enticed by the comments.

And Emma, did you post that as a note?  That's awesome... ;D  I simply did an update that came close to the character max and then fielded about 60 responses, messages, emails, and texts.  It took forever to get through!

Yeah, it was a note. Also, it wasn't nearly as blunt, but it was firm. I left it up for a week, got 30 responses, the rest friended me, and I shut the old one down. Full time online :)
