Hi! I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have been looking through Dr. Thomas' website and looked through a lot of cases. For those of you who are more familiar with the procedure, do you think age, weight, and size affect the outcome? I also heard that some of the time the vocal cords stretch after the surgery and reverts the voice back to original, would this be less common in younger patients?

I've never heard of a good result from voice-related surgery.

Maybe someone else has information I don't, but I'm never ever going to think about getting this done unless there are tons of well-documented, positive results for me to hear from.

Uhm, the general reputation of voice surgeries is very bad, and my very limited knowledge makes me estimate the satisfaction rate to 10% maximum. Think about this a LOT and ask MANY professionals before even considering it seriously. This is a serious risk, as it can worsen or even eliminate your voice completely.

As for your question, as with every single surgery (I think), I am sure that young age and healthy weight decrease risks to some extent. But how much is "some" is unknown to me. I do not know WHAT risks it reduces either (voice-related risks, or life-threatening risks only, etc.) It may be very small. As for body size, I have no idea. In any case, I do not think even the best possible parameters could make the operation worth it... Unless there have been some serious advances.

I personally know 2 people who have gone to Dr Thomas, and they sound awesome. I am always very jealous of their voices, and I'm saving as much as I can so I can have surgery with him as well. Both were young (late 20's early 30's) and very skinny. That's as much as I can say about it. The results on his site are worrisome, but I am sold from the personal experiences.

I have never heard of Dr. Thomas but there's another surgeon who does vocal chord surgery and it's Dr. Mayer http://www.bevhills.com/tg/index. I am looking forward to hopefully having it done in the future since my voice training so far has been futile...but ill keep trying for now
