The article reads in a manner that assumes facts not in evidence. The reality is not everyone has voice issues. It should not be presumed that someone HAD surgery just because they have a voice within natal vocal ranges.
It is no different that any other surgery in that, quite frankly, one does not pry. And this holds no matter whether one is trans or not. It is an entirely different matter if a conversation ensues and someone volunteers that they had a particular procedure performed and then also proceeds to volunteer the doctor's information.
I didn't think about it that way before, but in matters of surgical procedures, that makes perfect sense.
Perhaps we in the trans-realm are a bit odd in that regard, considering how freely we discuss surgeries (had them, not had them, want them, don't want them, etc.) while forgetting that all we tend to see are the trans people who DO volunteer that information. Guaranteed, not 100% of trans people
do volunteer that information for whatever reason, putting that group more in line with the general population, I'm guessing. These people shouldn't be chastised for desiring privacy.
Drawing a link between private people and catty people (such as the article does) is counterproductive.
(Sorry if that made absolutely no sense... cold meds are jacking my brain)
