LAS VEGAS — Late Wednesday, I couldn't get relief from a nagging feeling that there was something awry about the hullabaloo that erupted regarding a transgender woman named Stephanie who alleged she was banned for life from the Cosmopolitan after being confronted recently for using the ladies' restroom at 4 a.m.

[...]

And yet, something was off. It's dead of night, nobody around and here's this dramatic reaction from a security staff that was on their toes to address something even though there was nobody there to complain. It all seemed so . . . disproportionate.

So I dug. And you'll never believe what I found. And after I found it, I interviewed Stephanie. Hang on tight, folks.

Friess nails it.

All to often, we see stories that are hyped or contorted to fit a framework under the auspices of 'heightened awareness.'  THEN the rest of the story comes out and the original 'reporting' (often someone's blog entry) then has the potential to have done more harm than good.

Could something happen as described? Sure.  Does it happen in a casino with any measure of regularity?  Never seen it (and I have spent A LOT of time in casinos in Vegas and elsewhere).  And ot the same person more than once on different properties owned by different corporate parents?  I like the odds on a royal flush on the flop a lot more than the events described in this particular story being accurate.
