I know alot has been written about coming out to parents and that hardship.  Growing up, my Dad treated me as his son until puberty.  He taught me how to tie a tie, to shave, shoot, throw knives...well the list goes on.  When I first came out to him, years ago, he was very supportive, said he had always known.  But, then he started listening to the naysayers, and now, I can't stand being around him.  I long for the Dad I had. I am thankful for all the times we had and trying to find a way to bring that back again.  He's just one of those people that fear what others say and think.  Just a rant I needed to post.

Yea man. It does suck!  When I first told my Dad, he sent me this unbelievable letter.  About, how he had always known and that's why we did such great things together.  My Dad is in his 80's now, and I know he needs my help.  But with him refusing to see me as me....wanting to tell people I am his daughter, Well, I've told him that as long as he does that...I can't help you.  I've also told him that at his age....if he pulls that crap on me...I'll just tell people he  is senile.

Oh well if he's 80, his mind could be starting to go. Old people tend to regress back to way old fashioned attitudes and beliefs even when people still want to argue that they're fine and not senile. I take care of my grandmother so I know. She used to never be racist and now she is, and it's only a product of her being old and her mind slipping back to the 1800's. I've read a bit online about how old people's attitudes can change like that.

Yeah... hate to say it but that's what I do when my grandma says my legal name in front of people. Just look at her like she's crazy (kinda is since she talks to herself on a regular basis) and people usually ignore it. I'm sorry though man :( I wonder what his issue is. Maybe he thought it was a phase you'd grow out of if he accepted it?
