For at least two years, and I'm pretty sure closer to three, I've noted, off and on, that trans folk need their own organizations that have the same degree of diversity as our allies on the GL side.

Allies are essential to any sort of social movement that seeks to change things for a minority.

Yeah, I really mean that.  That's not an exaggeration, either.  One must, absolutely, have allies.  You have to reach the largest, broadest possible group of people, and you have to get them on your side not only in terms of  agreeing with you, but in terms of being vocal enough and committed enough that they will take your talking points as their own, unprompted, unscripted, and use them anytime, in any place.
