Hello everyone :)

Hopefully it's ok to post this here (if not feel free to move it where it should be), but I was wondering what everyones skin care routine consists of and some of your fav products to use.  I'm in the very beginning stages of starting a new life and in my old life, being "cowboy tough" was something I had to live everyday so make up, skin care, etc wasn't something I was able to mess around with to often :(  But I'm ready to play some catch up and learn all I can :)  So if anyone could share any routines, tips, or products, my skin and I would be very thankful.

There is a beauty forum here somewhere, but I will help you play!

What's your skin type? Is it oily, combination, dry, etc... Do you need stuff for your hair?

Are you pre-HRT? Because this will make a difference in odor and we will have to recommend scents accordingly. What's your price range?

I use Origins Zero Oil for my facial cleanser, Olay spf 15 age defying lotion for my face, White Citrus or Country Chic lotions and body wash from Bath and Body Works, and Garnier hair products, including a leave in conditioner because my hair is insane.

I don't use any perfume normally, but I have some if I ever feel like it: Acqua di Gioia by Armani.

Oddly, even if you're in boy mode and you use all of this, no one will ever look at you strange or mention it at all. The perfume gets me compliments every time I use it.

Things I do:
Right now I am consistently epilating* my face, removing all hairs in the process. I wash my face daily with facial cleanser*. I then follow up twice daily with moisturizer* . It's made for your face, so it doesn't clog your pores. I didn't mean for this to sound like an advertisement!  ;D These are just the basic things I do, to keep my skin clear and clean.

Tips:
When epilating your face or any body part, make sure to go against the hair growth. Always clean the epilator between uses, this is extremely important when using it on your face, as not cleaning it can cause major breakouts of acne. Constant maintaining is required, so just watch for hairs and get them as they come.

When washing your face, make sure to mix the cleanser in your hands first. Getting water mixed in and making the soap soapy and bubbly means it is ready to put on your face, scrub and ex foliate your skin. Remember not to rough, but enough to get the full effect.

When moisturizing, use generous amounts. No need to be stingy with the cream, especially with the item provided below, as it does not leave that gross greasy feeling. Try to apply twice daily, or more as needed. This will help your skin to have that soft glow.

More Information:
I wish you the best of luck on your quest for the perfect skin. Please send me any PMs, as I will be glad to help you further.

You should warm a wet rag up in the microwave nd let it sit on your face. This, will open up your pores. Then gently, massage palmers coco butter lotion in motions on your face. Drink plenty of water! As for purfume, i use Secret. This can be found at walmart. They smell so good!

Well, that's nice you are going to start a skincare routine!  As you probably know, everyone has different skin and therefore need a different routine and different products for their skin.

1.)  When you wake up, you should probably wash your face!  Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleaner is my recommended face wash.  It's really gentle and helps prevent acne and stuff.  You should also probably wash your face before you sleep!  A lot of bacteria and other things accumulate on your skin during the day, so your skin will thank you.

2.)  Moisturize!  I think everyone has been told to moisturize at some point in their life.  Like Emma said, Olay SPF 15 is good because it moisturizes well and also has an Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15.  Remember that protecting your skin from the sun is very important to preventing skin cancer and also important for looking youthful and radiant as you age.

3. ) Exfoliation - Once or twice a week you probably want to use an exfoliant on your skin before you wash your face.  Shaving exfoliates your skin, so that is good for you, and so is using a brown sugar, honey, and lemon juice face scrub.  Or...

http://www.amazon.com/Queen-Helene-Masque-Mint-Julep/dp/B00008CMOQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=beauty&qid=1304950025&sr=1-1 < Queen Helen Mint Julep Masque!  I love this stuff, but it can sting a teensy bit.  Very good exfoliant and you can buy it at walgreens.

4.) Concealer -  If you have any blemishes on your face (so pretty much if you are a human being) then you would most likely want to cover those!  A concealer is super useful for covering acne or other little things on your face that you want to conceal.

http://www.avon.com/1/1/16510-mark-save-the-anti-acne-concealer-stick.html < Very good concealer, even if you don't have acne.  It's creamy and goes on easily and is easy to carry around in your pocket or purse for quick touch-ups.

Foundation - Some people use foundation.  Just like concealer it's not necessary, but I find that it makes me prettier, and who doesn't want that?  Foundation evens out your skin tone and normally goes on over concealer and moisturizer.  You'll probably want a light foundation that doesn't make your skin feel weighed down and make you feel hot.

http://www.pamperedprincesscosmetics.com/ < I LOVE her foundation.  You can ever order a try-it size for $1.50 and it'll probably last you forever.

Extra stuffs - You should probably buy some makeup brushes for foundation/concealer, etc.  ELF makes a really good overall face brush and you can buy it at target.  It's only $1 and applies foundation/blush very well.

First I'd like to say thanks to everyone for the replies and information :)

@ Emma -  I believe my skin type would be oily or combination, more then likely oily though and I am at this particular time pre HRT.  Unfortunately my price range at the moment is very low, but I'd like to atleast start taking steps in the right direction to help me out in the long term.  I'm  6'5 so I feel like I need all the help/advantages I can get lol.  Thanks for "playing" though Emma lol :)

I love to play!

In the case of your skin my regimen will suit you well. The most costly things are the Origins facewash ($18), and the perfume (+/- $60). Everything else hovers right around $10. The other girls' suggestions are worth a look too. I like  Zelda's, and I plan to adjust mine in that fashion after hair removal is over.
