Dilating getting more difficult

I'm 2 months post-op now and dilating has never been too much of a problem. Yes there was the 'skipping' issue some with the first dilator but anything afterward seems to work fine...although the #4 can still be slightly painful when first inserting even after opening it up with #2 first.

Anyway, I've noticed since I had silver nitrate treatments that dilating has just gotten a lot more difficult, esp starting out with #2. The opening seems much smaller at first and I have to really work it in and out to get past the 'flesh door' as a friend of mine dubbed it whereas before it wasnt nearly this hard.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues?

Hi,

Some days yes, others no.  I just ease it in more slowly on the bad days.

I think i made it worse recently by not using the Beta Valerate but i started to ache down there so started using it again.

I put it all down to healing and granulation.

I'm on a different schedule (different doctor) where I do the #1 (5 mins), #2 (10 mins) and #3 (15 mins) three times a day.  After about a month and a half the first dilation in the morning has become difficult especially with the #1.  It gets really tight about half way in.  I just back it out a little and put a little more pressure going back in.  A couple of time with that and it slides in.

At my one month followup with my surgeon it was stated that dilation would get a little harder in another month.  So I am guessing you are at that point.  I am sure it will get back to being better once you are through whatever is going on.

this is normal as healing and contraction take place.  It is critical at this time that you maintain your depth, even if you have to go down to the smaller diameter dilators. It will pass eventually, but it may take 1-2 months before it starts to get better. In the meantime, if you keep your same depth, the width will be easy to recover.

I had this issue particularly bad at 4-5 months, but now at 11 months everything is fine. I still use all 4 dilators working up from 1 to 4 but I think that's more from habit than actually needing to.

This seems to be quite a common problem a majority of us go through.  I found I needed to drop down one size for a time until thinks settled down then started again on the larger size and have been there ever since.

As Fairygirl the main thing is to maintain full depth, width can be reclaimed.

I've noticed it a lot recently.. every time I think I've reached the tough period it gets tougher and tougher >___< or should I say tighter. The mornings seem to be the worst and I need to relube up to ten times to reach full depth which can take up to an hour. I think it's so tight it just wipes the lube clean off until I can dynamic it enough to open it up more. I'm just going into the third month now and I want it to start getting better within a fortnight. IF not I'm going to ............I don't know... probably just cry before and after again I guess.
blah.. bring on the relief of getting past this already. :/

I'll be post 2 months tomorrow and I'm on the 3x a day schedule as mentioned with 1,2 &3. I've notice the same issue but for me it seems to be the first one in the am. It seems to be a bit harder but does eventually loosen up. I've been assuming that this was from reduction of swelling and everything tightening up.

i was on the biggest one the 2nd week.  on my 6th week i had my first sexual encounter then after that i had sex practically everyday.  after 6 mths, i didnt dilate anymore.  i dont understand why so many people are having problems dilating.  IF you are just at home doing nothing, just leave it in (with lots of lube of course).  i would dilate sometimes through a whole movie. just making sure every ten mins i would rotate the dilator.  u will see how faster your dilation routine becomes less much earlier.

Lube?  I haven't had lubricate since the end of the forth week.  I found that I produce enough on my own.

I don't know if I'm noticing a pattern or if I'm just becoming more tolerant.. either I will have two days of crazy pain then a few days of not so bad or if it's getting tighter and more painful but I'm getting used to it *shrugs*. I've started trying this idea of letting it sit in there for a while afterwards, I've been adding an extra 30 mins on in the mornings and afternoons.. though it still takes an hour to reach full depth :/
Relief...where art thou? ...

OMG, this morning I was sooooooo tight!  Once I got the #1 in the #2 and #3 were easy.  I hope this gets easier.

>_<
last night was my most painful dilation (thus far), at day 60.. I keep thinking/hoping that it can't get anymore painful then it does!!! 0_____o Now I'm thinking from what people say is that it peaks at around the three month mark and doesn't taper down before then! Every other day I'm like "dear god this has to be the top of the mountain of pain...coommeeee  oonnn!".
////////////8just wanna start down the other side already, the easier bit :/

oh yeah my mum told me "toughen up princess", this morning... she may have a point.

I'm finding it's getting more difficult for me too, although not really painful, just tight. That initial entry of the small stent is SO difficult. I just take my time and ease it in very slowly. As soon as it's in a little then I pull up a pair of tight panties and let them apply the pressure needed to get to full depth.
