I'm Resigning from Queer Rising Due to its Plan to Depict Senator Diaz as a "Drag Queen". This Ridicule's Message is Transphobia & Misogyny

Dear Queer Rising,

I strongly disagree with Queer Rising's choice to use the transgender component of drag to mock Senator Diaz tomorrow in your planned stunt, as to suggest the worst thing a male could be is feminine, or a drag queen, which sends a transphobic message. I feel the gay and lesbian organizers of this action have turned a deaf ear to the public outcry of many in the transsexual, transgender and ally communities. I don't have the power to stop this problematic stunt, but I do have the power to resign as a member.

Why would LGB activists mock a homophobe by dressing him up in gender non-conforming clothing? Do you realize how many people in the "T" are offended by this? As a woman, this action offends me because I feel it is sexist to dress up the Senator's image in women's clothes which implies that depicting him as a woman is an "insult" and "degrading".
