How tall are you? You'd have to be less than 5 feet to be considered overweight at 130 lbs. Also, slim and feminine are not synonymous. Women come in all shapes and sizes. A lot of people equate slim with feminine because of the media image of the ideal woman as being petite and slim really distorts their body image.

Oh geez, this one can be tough. When I was younger, my metabolic rate was fast and I had difficulty keeping my weight up. Now I am older and have been on Estrogen and the 'fluff' around my waist is proving most difficult to get rid of completely.

I have to really watch what I eat. I try to eat one meal of fruit every day or so to control the intake of starches and other things that increase my weight. I have also reduced the size of the portions I do take. Doing these things and regular exercise have worked for me-when I stick to it.

Ice cream & cakes are what really put it on me nowadays so I have to be careful how much I consume at one time. Oh how I would just love to sit down and eat three or four popsicles in a row like I used to. This simply isn't a possibility for me now when weighed against my goals of controlling my weight and getting my waist line back where I want it.

It all depends upon what your goals are and how bad you want to get where that is. But we have to deal with other pressures too don't we. How each of us deals with these is different because we all have characteristics of strength and of weakness in our personalities and we deal with these as we must.

One of my strengths is I am able to better control my impluses now than before. This is helping me reduce my body weight by a pound every two days I stick to the plan. I really, really want to reach my goal of being a woman and this is but a part of it. Good Luck to You!

At 5'2" and 130 lbs your BMI is 23.8, which puts you in the healthy range. You don't need to lose weight from a health perspective. If you want to lose weight for aesthetic reasons, here's some tips:
- Don't drastically reduce your food intake. It's best to spread out smaller meals through the day rather than starving all day and then pigging out.
- Savor your meals and eat them slowly. Take the time to enjoy the taste from every single bite.
- When you get emotional eating urges, do something else, like go for a walk.
- Aim for around 2000 calories a day.
- Eat lots of fiber. Eat whole grain bread instead of white bread, and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
- Try to aim for 5 servings of fruit and 5 servings of vegetables. Whole fruits are a lot better than fruit juice.
- Try to get a good ratio of carbs, protein, and fats in each meal. It will keep you full longer. Carbs should be the main part of your meal and protein/fat the side dish.
- When it comes to carbs, go for things like whole grain bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, etc. and avoid candy and junk food like the plague.
- When it comes to fats, polyunsaturated fats are the way to go. This includes things like olive oil, canola oil, avocado (I personally use guacamole as a spead instead of butter/mayo, it's yummier and a lot healthier!) Avoid meat and dairy like the plague, especially red meat and high fat dairy products like butter and cheese because those are full of saturated fats. Also, avoid margarine like the plague, unless it is trans fat free.
- Try to get 30-60 minutes of cardio exercise a day.
- Most importantly, DON'T GET CARRIED AWAY! You're fine the way you are and you are perfectly beautiful and feminine regardless of your weight.

well said TheAetherealMeadow-I love avocados.
Being feminine is a state of mind that we are regardless of how we look on the outside! :-*

For the last couple of years I have changed my diet slightly to cut fat intake due to high cholesterol.
I cut out lamb chop, sausages and pork chops, and now stick to lean steak, chicken and fish.
The love handles have gone, and I feel a lot healthier.

I have noticed that when people talk about cutting down on carbohydrates they confuse the complex and simple forms.  Starches are complex and ok, sugars are simple carbohydrates and the real problem.

The body loves them, and will store any fat for later,  and happily run on the sugars for now.  Problem is, nowadays we have so much food that the lean days the fat is stored for never comes. So it sits there, and gets bigger.

Hey,

The best advice Ive ever received is that on a basic level, you just need to use more calories per day than you consume.....so just take each day as it comes and keep an eye on how much youre eating and more than balance it out with exercise......sorry if this is a bit simplistic, but its always helped me when trying to know what to do to trim down!

beyond the basics of calorie counting and whatnot, do not also forget the other component which would be an exercise plan of some sort.  There are plenty of toning exercises that do not result in the building of bulk.  And a fair amount of cardio also never hurt anyone...seems to help with the legs and butt as well ;)

Losing weight is probably not necessary. Unless you have very, VERY little muscle and ALL of this is fat, I reckon you do not need to lose weight. If you actually feel you
need to, though, here are my non-expert tips for losing weight whilst minimizing muscle gain:

-Eat less calories than you use. Simple.
-Eat less calories in your food, BUT keep it balanced. No matter how much you reduce calories, you still need the same amount of nutrients.
-Eat less grains products, and whenever you eat them (don't cut them entirely; they are necessary), eat whole grains.
-Eat less animal food. These foods are typically unhealthy and fatter and if you balance well the rest, aren't even needed.
-Eat a lot of fruits and vegetable. They have the best calorie-fill ratio. Around 50% of what you eat should be these.
-Drink a lot of water.
-DO spoil your meals. You heard me. Eat an apple 15-20 minutes before eating and you will eat less during the actual meal.
-Focus your physical activity on your lower body (running for example). The difference in strength between females and males in that area is smaller than the upper body.
-Focus your physical activity on endurance, not power or strength. This is the way that least increases mass.

BUT as I have already said, don't exaggerate. If your BMI calculation says underweight or on the line between healthy and underweight, no matter how fat you still
think you are, stop.

Finally, your age has been edited out, but it must mean you are below 18. This means you are still growing. Whilst growing is usually not good news for us MTF transsexuals,
it cannot be stopped: your body NEEDS nutrients to grow and will rather make you sick than stop your growth if they lack. The ideal would be to get a FSH/LH antagonist
prescription, but well, not everyone can get their hands on these.
