Bay Area ReporterMartha Arredondo, the mother of Daxi Arredondo, 35, and friends began to question the SFPD's investigation of her daughter's sudden and mysterious death after receiving the initial police report. Daxi Arredondo had lived in Santa Cruz but was in San Francisco at the time of her death.
The first error Arredondo's mother and close friends noticed was that the officer who initially reported the incident, Rolly Junio, misidentified Arredondo's gender as "John Doe" rather than "Jane Doe." (Arredondo's driver's license lists her as female.) Then they noticed the lack of information about the investigation.

"No statement from the person who rented the room. No interviews with anybody that was in any neighboring rooms that may have seen or heard anything. There was no description of how they found the body or the contents of the room. No mention whether the room was photographed. Whether there was any evidence obtained and booked into the police log," Corral said. "Other than the credit card of the person who rented the room [the police report] didn't say that they made any attempt to find this person."
